I’m blogging out of the city of Vancouver, Canada.
Watching nature programs on television is nice, but it’s more fun to take an active interest in our environment… go outside and wonder out loud. Turn off your computer.
My blog explores the fascination on how some city slickers are reconnecting back to nature.
I will also embrace our frog, not just as an indicator species on the health of our environment, but why saving frogs save people.

It is important that we pause, and open our eyes
It has been fun to have been a part of some community successes here, in our city.
Myself, as a kid in the 60’s, helping stop the then proposed freeway and urban renewal through our historic neighbourhoods of Strathcona and Chinatown.
The late 1990’s, saw us lobbying City Hall to come up with a tough new tree removal by-law –discouraging the destruction of mature trees on private property.
We were successful in altering the City’s expansion plan for our Fraserview golf course – situated in a forgotten urban forest that is home to many species of birds, fish, amphibians and other critters living in a shrinking and fragmented urban habitat.
We hope to share with you, our ramblings and discoveries in “green ideas“, urban critters, and “gadgets” …concepts both old and new.
Yes, old ideas.
Because there is much we can learn from our past.
Remember our wildlife, especially those animals and plants who share our city space. Urban critters are a valuable thread in our city’s ecosystem.
We’re very interested in your views and thoughts.

You are very humble! It was YOU who led and organized the citizen efforts to stop the destruction of Fraserview forest.
Your our city’s unsung hero!
Thanks and Bless you!

Thanks John! There were many neighbours involved on the Fraserview forest. You were one of them.
We all did an amazing job working with all city neighbourhoods and our city.
Boy… that was quite the undertaking wasn’t it!?
