This is a great series on Vancouver's animals. We hope you keep up this stuff!
We still remember a time when our parents used to see bears and beavers in Vancouver. That was probably 60 odd years ago.

My grandpa had some deer antlers he managed to collect when he was a young man. All from the wild that once lived in Vancouver's forests.

We love your blog. Please keep up your postings on our city's wildlife. Thanks!

sorry Orla... we don't know of any place that actually sells evaporative coolers. You can actually make one up yourself.

We made one at one of our university greenhouses years ago ... all you need is some sort of absorptive material (like mineral wool), a water source to wick up the water, and a fan to draw air through the soaked material.

Only thing is that the outside air needs to be drier than the inside so evaporation occurs... and this shouldn't be a problem in Vancouver. Do a web search, and you'll find all sorts of interesting ideas and drawn plans on building your own swamp (evaporative) cooler.

Hi

I live in Vancouver and really want to buy a swamp cooler. I've checked all the major retailers but can't find one. Where can I get one?

Thanks in advance
